Re: currency?
hiya we took all english and then changed it if we need it taxi we found wanted paying in lira but every where else we found took english fine hope this helps
currency
We only took £50 in lira the rest was sterling, everywhere takes sterling, (in the hotel, shops in town and markets) then if we needed lira (for taxi or to play bingo) we bought something with sterling and got change in lira. Don't change it up at reception though they were only giving 2.2, the shops in the hotel were giving 2.3 and one shop in Sarigerme gave us 2.5. When my daughter bought a candyfloss and gave the man a £10 note he'd given 2.5 as well!
Currency - Euros ?
We've been to Turkey twice before and have got the currency wrong both times.
Firstly we took Lira and found most places were priced in Euros, including the market.
So then we took Euros, visiting somewhere different, and found the markets and shops there were all priced in Lira !!
Can anyone tell me what the best thing to take to Sarigerme is ?
Lira, Euros or Sterling, or some of each ?

When we went in may we took £50 worth of Lira. The rest was sterling cash. Most places take sterling, the taxi drivers only take lira and if you're staying at the holiday village they take all 3 but don't do a very good rate of exchange (except the candy floss man - my daughter used to give him a £20 note and he gave her roughly 2.6! perhaps his maths wasn't that good)
