Re: fishing in sarigerme
Hi Steve ,
i think there are one or two shops in the village selling stuff but dont know what excatly ..
I know some locals such as the owner of the agora bar or the Golf estate Mustafa who are fanatic fishermans , they will be more then happy to help you ..
However in the meantime if do give a list of clear questions i can try to find out for you , or maybe some of the residents of sarigerme such as MICK , BRIAN ect . do know the answers (if they find time to move from the bar)

Fishing Sarigerme
Hi Steve T,
Im in the same position as you, there doesn't seem much info about. I fish each year in Menorca using a telescopic carp rod, 8lb line, float fishing with bread as bait and had some decent fish up to about 3lb (no idea of species though). I will be doing the same this year in Turkey in May, but was thinking of looking for a boat trip as well.
Obvious tip is don't pack any fishing gear in your cabin luggage as it will be confiscated, even floats and hooks in packets (as I was told by some sad tackle-less anglers in Menorca last year!!).
As your going in October I will post any info I get when I get back.
Tight lines
Dave

MORE FISHING INFO
Hi Steve,
Just got back from Sarigerme on Sunday so heres what little I found out about the fishing in the area. Most fishing is done on the 2 rivers at either end of the big beach. I met a top lad in the Dolphin bar called Ismael (sorry if I spelt it wrong) who was a mine of info. He says the rivers are great in a few weeks time when the extra rain water has gone through. The only effective baits were worms (like our rag worms but smaller) and shrimps they catch from the margins of the river using a net. There was nowhere to buy either bait or shrimp nets in the village.
Bread was a waste of time but he did say the campsite river started to get better with bread as the holiday season progressed (as people chuck it in and the fish get used to it). The locals wrap a piece of bread with a string of hooks and cast it in then jerk it back and foulhook mullet (they are fishing for food of course so anything that works goes, see pic on fishing page of website if you wonder what it looks like). Hook sizes are small and line light (3lb bs as the fish shy off thicker).
The species are mullet (like our grey mullet) up to a pound when I was there, and bass (never saw one caught). Later in the year other species come into the shore and I did witness a decent sized fish jumping for its life in the surf just in front of the Hilton golf. Lures start to be effective then, Ismail showed me one that looked like a green perch with a vein to sink it at the front that he said was good.
Ismael knows a guy who will take you out in his boat to the island in front of the town beach for a fee if you fancy (cost to be negotiated).
As far as tackle is concerned a spinning rod will be ample. Bring some light line for the mullet and small hooks (16s to 10s) and hope you can secure some bait from the amazingly helpful locals. I'm sure Ismael will help if you ask nicely but the worms are bought in from outside so I wouldn't expect them to give them away.
There are commercial fishermen at the Hilton river using round throw nets who don't speak english who seem to catch a few.
Thats about all. I fished 3 or 4 time using bread and didn't get a bite (except the insect ones that fed on me while I stood in the rushes
I'm sure it will be a different experience when you get there. The locals are so friendly you will get advice whether you want it or not as soon as they know you are a fellow angler.

Fishing boat "POSEIDON" is ready for fanatic fishermans
Hi everybody,
POSEIDON is very comfortable boat for fishing specialy if you are a big group who likes much fishing in Sarigerme. It is ideal too to make a daily boat trips to ASI BAY including lunch either with large group or small family or firends group.
Captain RAMBO is always there in the boat if someone looks for him and if he is not out for fishing..
He has got some set of fishing tackle in the boat for his guests if required. But I guess they are not a professional ones. You can find some good ones in the shop in Sarigerme as Nayir said.
Just let us know a few days before to reserve the boat from my mobile +90 536 814 90 87 or visit me at Yasemin Villas behind the SarigermeTours office..
I will be glad to help you in this case if you need.
Thanks,
Gulsen
