Night Life, shopping & car hire

Post by bjudson on Thu Apr 03, 2008 10:47 am

Can anyone tell me what the night life is like in Sarigerme this time of year. My wife and I arrive next Monday staying at the Ilinn and although we do want to spend a couple of days relaxing we do want to have a few nights out as well.

Can anyone tell me where the best market is?

And finally, is it worth hiring a car for a couple of days or just stick with the shuttle buses as it seems they go everywhere/

Thanks in advance

Hello ,

No Nightlife in April ..
Dalyan (30minutes away) - Fethiye (45 minutes away) -Marmaris (1,30 hour away) would be a good option for you ..
However , those who are living during April period in the area may give you more reliable information ...

Markets , Fridays in Ortaca (20 minutes away ),seems the biggest one nearby , unless you want to travel to Province MUGLA , market there takes place on thursdays...

Hire a Car ? ..yeah go for it , but be carefull........

Hi

We normally go in September so can't comment on the nightlife (although it is quite quiet when we go too!)

With regards to the markets...... it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for clothing and textiles then Ortaca is quite good - plenty of denim, but not so much on the designer t-shirt side. The market at ortaca is the one the locals use, so it is quite interesting. If you want more of the t-shirts, ds games, gifts etc. then there is a small market on a Sunday morning which isn't bad - although I have to confess I don't know if it is there in April.

If you want a big shopping day then I would say Marmaris is well worth a trip if you have the time. The markets there are quite large, plus you have the indoor bazaar where you can spend many a happy hour - there are lots of leather, shoe and rug shops. I have spent many a happy hour and £'s there!!! Sterling still seems to have a bit of clout - you get more for your money than with euros.

Have a good time in April Very Happy

Hi there,

For markets try Dalaman market on Thursdays and Dalyan market on Saturdays and the biggest one Koycegiz on Mondays. There are loads of lovely restaurants around, but you would need to hire a car or get a taxi to get to them. There is the Topracana and the Botanic gardens, there's the Yosun or the Ley ley, and there is a few good ones in Dalaman too. The Tayyare, and the Begonville are both good. I would say definately hire a car and explore a bit, there are loads of wonderful places to see. The countryside is breathtaking! If you would like to meet up for some more info just ask ok?

Hope this helps
