Hi, we went in May and had a fantastic time, so much so we're going again on the 1st of October, I wouldn't worry too much about the negative comments, people who had a bad time ar far more likely to write about it than people who had a good one. ajust make sure when you visit to get Sinkov spray from the village to deter the mossies and book any tours through Sarigerme Tours Travel, Emre will take care of you there. First Choice reps will tell you not to book in town as they're not insured, this is all lies, the truth is they are fully insured and cost a fraction of the price First Choice charge for the trips.
Hope you have a great time there, we did. Feel free to ask if you want any more info.

Re: holiday village reviews

I am going to the holiday village with First Choice next Thurs 17th with 2 kids 17 and 8, and have already booked with Sarigerme tours 2 trips and will be booking at least 1 more with them when we get there. After reading through the forum and doing a little bit of research i will feel quite comfortable not taking notice of the reps and their scare stories.
Thouroughly looking forward to visiting the villages nearby to the holiday village.
I will be buying some sinkov when we arrive, as i get bitten LOTS for some reason!!

I read trip advisor for reviews of the holiday village and was quite shocked at the reports i saw and was seriously concerned about going, but have stocked up on hand sanitisers and anti- diarrhoea tablets for us all.!! Fortunately my kids are good at making sure their hands are clean, and i am a nurse so hopefully we won't have the problems people reported. But you can never guarantee other visitors hygiene standards are the same.......

Thank you for an informative, great and valuable website and forum.
Siobhan +kids!!

Hi we have just returned from the HV on the 3rd September. We had a fantastic time and the Tropical main pool was only shut once. The only gripe i had was the food was not always hot but if your prepared to wait then you can grab it as it comes of the grill. HOWEVER my 7 year old daughter became seriously ill with stomach crampe and sickness the day we came home and was so for well over a week.

Can't remember seeing any phones but not certain as we didn't need them. If she is gona use phones make sure you get a phonecard, it's by far the cheapest way to call back to the UK and whatever you do don't use mobiles. It costs about £1.60 a minute to phone home from Turkey!

To FBSM there's a BOB themed week starting on the 7th or 8th but I believe he wanders around there all year Smile

Re: holiday village reviews

Post  siobhan on Fri Sep 25, 2009 3:26 pm

Just got back from a week at HV Turkey, and we all had a fantastic week. The staff were very friendly and were always busy cleaning. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and i couldn't find any evidence of problems. The food variety was outstanding and catered for a wide range of tastes. Tongs used to serve food hygenically, and hand sanitiser is available around all the food areas. We didn't hear of any tummy related sickness while we were there.
The pools were clean and not too busy while we were there. Inflatable boats and lilo's used in all the pools.
I was a little embarrassed by the fact some people just left used nappies by the pool, not even in bags.
The entertainment team worked extremely hard all the time, and my 8 yr old daughter loved the kids club.
I would strongly recommend using Sarigerme tours for any excursions, very friendly and helpful staff, especially Adnan who ran our two tours.
The local village is small and friendly with cashpoints available, and enough shops to browse at your leisure without pressure.
I would go back tomorrow if we could!!
Happy holidays.
x

Re: holiday village reviews

Post  blondangel on Tue Sep 29, 2009 11:04 pm

We've just come back from HV and had a great time. Although not a family group, just friends on a short break, and wanted to be away from the family areas during the day (the beach is a good spot if anyone else wants to escape and also close to the adult only bar) can appreciate all the stuff laid on for the the kids and families (they have family activities as well) and the entertainment team do work very hard. Have to say Sarigerme Tours are great, Emre was such fun and was on our 12 island tour which I would recommend to anyone for a day out. No signs of the reported stomach upsets that we had read about, but very embarrassed to be British at times walking back late from the beach, the mess by the pools was appalling including dirty nappies, empty bottles, magazines etc, there are plenty of bins around!!

Not everybody who visits Holiday Village is stereotypically English tourist, I am actually quite annoyed to be labelled as such. Some of us choose it because it is all inclusive and cheap for families. As for no common sense, labelling the majority in the same way as a minority doesn't show much common sense in itself.

Right moan over. We arrive tommorrow and can't wait to get there and visit the village. Very Happy

Now now mick, did you get out the wrong side of bed that day ? or was it just the wrong bed Embarassed .LOL
When I visited HV 3 or so years ago I did not have any tattoo or a beer bellie. Yet 3 years later I now have both Shocked .

I aint a snob either, but I do understand your comments, some folk have no respect for others when having 2 weeks in the sun, and its just not the Brits who are like this. Embarassed

Re: holiday village reviews

Post  miles on Tue Oct 20, 2009 4:38 pm

Just got back from Holiday Village this morning, absolutly FANTASTIC !! We all had a brilliant time, even my normally moody 15 year old daughter ! Accomodation and food were brilliant, honestly could not fault anything. There seems to be an army of staff cleaning, polishing, testing food, tending the manicured gardens and generally catering for your every whim, what more could you ask for?
I was really concerned before the holiday after reading all the negative reviews and Anne Robinsons watchdog programme, but none of us had any problems whatsoever.
There was a couple of times when pools were closed after an 'accident',but if people insist in letting thier young kids into the pool without swim nappies,or any nappy atall, then these things will happen.
If you are on this site because of worries about health, our experience ,was 100% positive with no symptoms in our group of 7,we also never met anyone with health problems or indeed any negative comments.
I would go back tomorrow if I could. Very Happy Very Happy
