12 ISLAND BOAT TRIP

Post  bonkers40 on Sat Jul 12, 2008 11:52 am

... we all had a wonderful time in Turkey and booking our excursions through yourselves was the best thing we could have done.

Jeep Safari on the Saturday. OMG - don't wear your best clothes! Get a LARGE water pistol! You geet very dusty but it is GREAT FUN! Especially the car washes. Omar (our driver) said "No car wash - no Jeep Safari!" Ramazan is brilliant - if you have trouble understanding his English - he speaks excellent Turkish! Good mornink. In 20 minute we go drive. Beware of the Vater Sinakes! At the restaurant i recommend diving in the clear waters - very cold but refreshing.

Would definitely do it again. My kids (16 and 14) loved it.

TURKISH BATH

Post  bonkers40 on Sat Jul 12, 2008 11:59 am

We had prepaid to go for a Turkish bath on the day after our Jeep Safari - much needed.
After a short drive, Serkan our driver, led us into a 'proper' Turkish Hamam.
The domed ceiling room had a hexagonal stone plinth that we had to lay on for about 15 minutes to open our pores. Gets very hot but you can pour water over yourself.
The men came in shortly after and began to wash us with a soapy cloth that turned into a sponge like thing that was very soft - we were then exfoliated with a mitten, massaged and rinsed off. Overall it was a great experience and a good treatment to get at the beginning of your holiday to enhance any tan you get.

12 ISLAND BOAT TRIP

Post  bonkers40 on Sat Jul 12, 2008 12:04 pm

On the Monday we had prepaid to go on the boat trip. What a wonderful relaxing day.
Wish we had taken goggles and our own sausage floats but it was lovely swimming at each stop.
Lunch was really nice, chicken, pasta and salad. On the last stop before our return we stopped at a small island where we had pancakes and corn and coffee.
We were the last to pay our drinks bill as we had fallen asleep on the last leg of the trip.

Again another trip we would definitely do again.

FETHIYE MARKET

Post  bonkers40 on Sat Jul 12, 2008 12:14 pm

On Tuesday morning driver took us to Fethiye so we could go to the market.
After being dropped off we got a bit lost walking around and eventually found the market in the opposite direction, leaving us with only 45 minutes to walk around.
Fortunately for us we bumped into Oz. After explaining our predicament, Oz arranged for us to have an extra hour to walk around the market. What a star. Thanks Oz, you are a diamond xx

It felt like we spent a fortune on t-shirts, bags, purses, belts etc but in reality we spent very little after haggling!

When we finished shopping we walked to the sea end of the canal where Driver was waiting to take us back to Sarigerme.

Again another place we would go again.
